John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs that he wrote, many of which are located in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. However, he fell in love Colorado. He later moved to Aspen. A few took the road to Colorado due to Denver's famous anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares that John Denver is unlike any other performer who has the recognizable image of Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He is now Colorado's international image. When you encounter people from other nations, for instance New Zealanders and say "I come from Colorado" then they immediately respond with "Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career in folk groups and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the track inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew the song would be a top 10 hit. After the performance to a throng of fans on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
